Jared R. Byer - Daily Photo on May 17th, 2008Party in the city

This is an old photograph I took in Central Park last year.

I felt like posting it.

James said the scars were on the inside.
You wouldn’t be able to tell by looking at him,
how much pain he was in.
He looked happy, he looked healthy,
He looked alive.
Most people never heard him complain.
If you asked how he was he’d say ok.
However, the scars are on the inside.

Jared R. Byer - Daily Photo on May 16th, 2008Another Rescue

I haven’t spent as much time out shooting as I wish I was. Thankfully there are several new tools in Aperture 2 that are letting me make previous reject photos ready to be a daily photo. In fact four of the recent photos have been such rescues and I am very tempted to go back and update some older photos.

I am sorry for the comments that disappeared from this post. I few spams were starting to get through. I say a few because that photo has gotten somewhere around 800 spam comments in the last week or so. Most were caught, some got through.

I deleted the old post and put a new one up. That will change the url of this photo and hopefully the spammers will think the post they were spamming is gone.

That is why your comments are gone, sorry.

Jared R. Byer - Daily Photo on May 15th, 2008Looking Back

I had dismissed this photo from my last trip out to the battlefield. I needed a photo from today so I started looking back for candidates. I little editing and I liked this one.

The software does censor it, but I can go in and do it by hand if I want to.

Gee, Sir It…

I thought you said it was 'software' that was censoring my comments???

I guess that's your inner bad boy shining through.

I knew he was there.

I should censor it just to be a jerk, but I won't, not this time.

On this photo I used a flash with a silver bounce card.

Then I converted it to black and white.

Then I sent it to the photo editor.

Put on an unsharp mask, which actually makes it sharper.

I duplicated the layer and added a magenta tint.

I erased everything in that layer but the flower.

Then I put on a oilpaint filter on that layer.

Then I merged the layers back down with the color merge selection.

Then you have what you see here.
