Tomorrow I am leaving to go to New Jersey to visit my wonderful girlfriend. I am also supposed to bond with her family. Please wish me luck. Due to our circumstances she has been able to come visit me much more than I her. This has lead her to be able to bond with my family much more than I have been able to get to know her family. I really enjoyed my one and only trip so far to meet her family. They all seemed to be really wonderful people and I look forward to getting to know them better. She has three nephews and a niece who are only a couple of years younger than my young cousins and they are fun and smart kids. Perhaps one day I will get to know them very well. Don’t tell anyone, but I am a little nervous about meeting her family again, I really want them to like me.
While I am there were are going to go to Philadelphia and see the King Tut exhibit and we plan to make a return trip, return trip for me that is, to New York, New York. I very much enjoyed my last trip. On that trip I brought with me my fast 50mm lens and the versatile 28-135mm lens. The zoom lens was too slow to be very useful after the sun started to go down so I went with the 50mm for most of that day. The 50mm is a great lens but just not very versatile when you are talking about a city like New York on the day after Thanksgiving. This time I have my new standard (for a camera with an APS-C size sensor) F/2.8 zoom that I plan on taking with me. We are probably going to arrive in the city earlier than we did last time so the light probably won’t be a problem this time. The other lens I plan on taking with me is the 75-300mm. I have found the pair make a good combination. I would of course love to be able to take a fast telephoto zoom like Canon’s 70-200mm F/2.8 IS USM lens but it is outside of my budget for right now.
I also plan on bringing my laptop but I do doubt I will find time to blog. I am not somebody who blogs two or three times a day while I am on vacation. So if you don’t here from me in the mean time you can assume that I am having a good time and I look forward to seeing you back here next Thursday. As usual there will be a photo of the day for the next week even though I am out of town. I have picked a a group of photos that I hope everyone likes.
