The world always seems brighter when you’ve just made something that wasn’t there before.
- Neil Gaiman
I have tried to start this post three or four times. I keep changing my mind about where to start. Do I start with the email from a photo editor last October? Do I tell you the story of how I got a copy of this book in the mail two weeks ago? Then I realized that what I really wanted to say was this “You see the book up there? the one about the city of Chattanooga. It is full of beautiful and amazing photos of this city that is my home and nine of the photos, well nine of the photos were taken by me!” So there you have it. The first book published with some of my work in it.
Amazon has the book listed, however they do not currently have any copies available. You can check it out here at this link though : Amazon.com – Chattanooga, The Renaissance of a City.
I received a very nice message today from Phillip Stevens (the author of the book), but before I tell you about that email I have to tell you about Volkswagen. Volkswagen the car manufacturer is considering opening a plant in Chattanooga and that would be wonderful for the city. The Chattanoogan.com has an article about it right here that you can read: Chattanooga.com – Wamp: Chattanooga Would Be “Excellent Choice” For Volkswagen. Now that that is out of the way, the very nice email from Mr. Stevens contained the following information:
- Amazon is sold out of the book.
- The Mayor’s office gave away 1,000 copies.
- Recently 30 representatives form Volkswagen in Germany were in Chattanooga
- Each of those 30 dignitaries was given a copy of the book.
- There are now 30 homes in Germany with a copy of a book that has some of my photo work in it.
If I hear any further information about availability I will pass it on to you. My good friend Matt Dunmore also had several photos in the book, including part of the cover (Big Congrats Matt!) and you can read his post about the book at his website: Matt Dunmore Photography
