Movies
This page will have info about some of my favorite movies.
Ratings:
Means it was terrible. A waste of my time. Very few movies get this rating

Means it was kinda sucky, not worth watching again. This is my basic bad movie rating but it has some basic redeeming quality.

Means it was good, entertaining and I might watch it again. This is my basic good movie rating. Most movies will either be a two or a three star.

Means it was nearly perfect. I would suggest it to other people. Very few movies get this rating.

Means it was a masterpiece - flawless and perfect and I watched it again immediately. Only masterpieces get this rating.
Abre Los Ojos

Alfie

Akira

This is a movie about Japanese motorcycle thugs and the nature or identity and reality.
Alien vs Predator
Not a good movie, but it does have some redeeming qualities, such as the cool pyramid settings.
Aliens vs Predator Requiem
You may have thought that the last AVP movie was bad, but at least it had some cool things to look at.
All the Pretty Horses

American Beauty

This movie represents the problem of any type of rating system. It is nearly a perfect movie yet I can’t give it a 5. Only PERFECT movies recieve a 5. Yet American Beauty is obviously better than American Psycho, but they are both nearly perfect.
American Psycho

American Splendor

Amelie

Anatomy

Anatomy 2

The Animatrix

Some of the stories are better than others. The majority of the 4 star rating comes from the haunted house story that is amazing and beautiufl.
Bad Santa

The Bank Job

A pretty good movie. The second best movie with Jason Statham I have seen, the best of course being the Italian Job.
Barbarella

Batman

Batman Returns (October 31,2008)

I just rewatched this movie on Halloween night. I guess it had been so long since I had seen this that I forgot just how hyper-sexualized this movie was. Not for the kiddies, but it did have the best soundtrack from any Batman movie ever.
Batman Forever
The Joel Schumacher movies were almost completly unwatchable. The only Batman movie worse than this one was Batman and Robin.
Batman and Robin
This has to be one of the worst big budget superhero movies. It has all the camp of the old 60’s show with modern special effects. Don’t waste your time.
Be Kind Rewind

Has some good laughs. Not exactly the type of movie it was advertised to be. Keeping in mind that I am not a Jack Black fan, it was still ok.
The Bicycle Thief

Big Fish

The Big Lebowski

The Black Dahlia

Blade

Blade Trinity

Blade Runner

Bloodrayne
Another example of a video game movie gone horribly, horribly wrong.
Blow

Bubba Ho-Tep

Casshern

This movie gets it entire four star rating from its awesome visuals. Turn the subtitles off, they don’t really help you understand the story anyway, and enjoy a visual chunk of total awesome.
The Cell

Chasing Amy

The Chronicles of Narnia Prince Caspian

Not as good as LW&W, but has some fun stuff to look at.
The Chronicles of Riddic

Citizen Kane

City by the Sea

Clerks

Close Encounters of the Third Kind

Closer
This movie gets a question makr because even after multiple viewings I still don’t know how I feel about it. Great acting, great directing, beautiful movie about terrible horrible people that unfortanatly are probably much more like most the people of the world.
Code 46

Crazy/Beautiful

Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon

The Crow

The Crow: City of Angels

The Crow: Salvation

The Crow: Wicked Prayer

Cube

Cube 2: Hypercube

Cube Zero

This is one of the few movies that breaks the rules that sequals are worse than the originals. This movie might even be better.
Dark City

The Dark Knight

A worthy successor of Batman Begins. Heath Ledger’s performance was a Tour De Force and completly Oscar Worthy. The downside to the film was that is was long and if you with the exception of it being a superhero movie, could very well have also been an episode of law and order.
The Dangerous Lives of Alter Boys

Dirty Pretty Things

Doom
Donnie Brasco

Donnie Darko

Down with Love

The Dreamers

This is my all time favorite movie. You would never think that a story about incestuous french twins corrupting a nice American young man would get a perfect score.
Edward Scissor Hands

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

Far From Heaven

Fargo

The Fifth Element

Fight Club

Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children

This movie is one of many, most of which are Japanese, that gets a near perfect rating or better rating based soly on how unbelievably beautiful it is.
Finding Neverland

The Forbidden Kingdom

Lots of fun Kung Fu, and some really beautiful Chinese landscape imagery.
From Hell

Gattaca

Ghost in the Shell

Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence

This is another movie that gets its astonishingly high rating based on how unbelieavably gorgeiously well it is animated.
Ghost World

Ginger Snaps

Ginger Snaps 2

Ginger Snaps Back: The Beginning

Girl Interrupted

Good Night and Good Luck

Grind House: Death Proof

Grind House: Planet Terror

Halloween (2007)

The Happening (September 17, 2008)

Much better than it was given credit for. The first part of the film contains some incredibly disturbing imagery.
The Hardword

Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay

Not at all family friendly, but incredibly funny. I think I laughed almost the whole time.
Hellboy

Hellboy 2: The Golden Army
I think it should be a crime for Guillermo del Toro to make movies such as Hellboy and Blade when he could be using his talents to make such perfect films as Pan’s Labyrinth.
Hero

Hidalgo

Hitman
I imagine it is technically possible for a video game to be turned into a decent film, this one though is not that movie.
Horton Hears a Who

Fun and silly. Probably pretty good for the kids.
House of Flying Daggers

Hulk
The Illusionist

The Incredible Hulk

Much better than the last Hulk movie. It should have done better at the box office.
Intermission

Into the Wild

This is an amazing movie. Even though it was very good it made me depresed for the next 2.4 days.
Inventing the Abbots

Iron Man

This movie was almost perfect. With the exeption of the Nolan batman movies, this is the best comic book movie I think I have ever seen. I went and saw it twice. The day I saw it for the first time was an amazing day. A woman I cared for very much broke up with me, I received my copy of a book that I had my photos published in and then I went to see Iron Man.
The Italian Job (2003)

Japanese Story

Jersey Girl

This movie got some bad press over the Ben/Jen fallout, however it was actually a pretty good movie and George Carlon was amazing it - he should have got an Oscar nod for the performance he put in.
Jumper
Basically the guy who was terrible in the terrible new star wars movies was terrible in this, but with some fun telaporation special effects.
Kill Bill Volume 1

Kill Bill Volume 2

Knocked Up

L.A. Confidential

The Last Samuri

Lola Rent

Lost Boys 2: The Tribe
I did not actually pay to watch this movie, but I still want my money back.
The Matrix

I think the genius of the Matrix was completly in its visual style. I mean more than just cinematography, I mean art direction. The Matrix is the best example of SciFi Noir I can think of sense Bladerunner - of course not as good though. The writing and human direction left a good deal to be desired.
The Matrix Reloaded

The Matrix Revolutions

Memento

Backwards tell a story it does. Yoda would like maybe. This movie would be nothing without the unique-ish story telling style. I think Nolan’s Batman work is many times superior.
The Midnight Meat Train (October 16 2008)

Based on the Clive Barker story of the same name. This one was one of my favs from the First Book of Blood. I think this movie was better than a movie of Pig Blood Blues could possibly hope to be. They did an alright job of fleshing (Did you see what I did there?) out a more robust story. I recommend it to horror and gore fans.
Millennium Actress

Minority Report

The worst part of this movie was Cruise in the lead. Give me someone like Ewan McGreggor for that role and it would have gotten more stars. Samantha Morton was brilliant and the best reason to watch the film, the visual effects are number two.
Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day

Kinda funny in a period british movie kinda way.
Mullholand Drive

Mullholand Drive is one of those masterpieces that you just can’t explain. I can think of very few movies I enjoyed consuming as much as this one.
The Mummy

The Mummy Tomb of the Dragon Emperor
The most memorable thing about this movie for me was the way one of my coworkers said the movies name, it tooke me three days to figure out he wasn’t talking about the new Mommy movie, but rather the new Mummy movie.
Mutant Chronicles

I think the idea behind this movie was to make a SF version of 300 and instead of nearly nude greeks, it had mutated monsters made of dead humans.
National Treasure
The idea behind Tomb Raider was to make a movie kinda like Indian Jones, except a lot worse but with a very attractive woman in it. The idea behind National Treasure was to take Tomb Raider and remove the attractive woman.
National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets
Basically the same as the first movie except not as good. At the end I was wondering who the nutter was that thinks Nicholas Cage should be cast to play someone of above average intelligence.
New Best Friend

Next Avengers Heroes of Tomorrow

Basically the children of the avengers have to stop Ultron. If you like the Teen Titans or the Justice League I imagine you will like this one.
The Nightmare Before Christmas

Nosferatu

The original Vampire movie. I watched this for the first time on a lonely Halloween night. I imagine this year I will get to make it a tradition.
Once Upon a Time in Mexico

On the Waterfront

Perfect Blue

Perfect Score

Peter Pan

Pi

Pitch Black

Princess Mononke

Pulp Fiction

Requiem for a Dream

Resident Evil Apocalypse

Resident Evil Extinction
With any luck Extinction will be an appropriate name and be the end of the Resident Evil movies. Nothing to really see here, go about your business.
The Road to Perdition

The Rocky Horror Picture Show

Romper Stomper

A Scanner Darkly

The Scorpion King 2: Rise of a Warrior
This could have easily been named Rise of a terrible movie. Don’t waste your time.
Secretary

The Secret Lives of Dentists

Sideways

Sin City

Sleepy Hollow

Smart People

Funny and kinda sweet. Imagine Stranger than Fiction without the fantasy element.
Snatch

Snow Angels (October 30, 2008)

I don’t really know how to describe this movie. It has a happy sub-story about teenagers falling in love. It has a sad story about a woman loosing her husband and a terrible story about her husband killing her.
Spaceballs

The Spanish Apartment

Speed Racer

This wasn’t a great movie, but it was fun to look at. Lots of pretty colors.
The Spiderwick Chronicles

Fun fantasy movie, kids might like it.
Spirits (Oan Hon)

Starship Troopers

Starship Troopers 2

Starship Troopers 3
The third movie introduces the idea of armored exo-suites, you know the basic idea that was used in the actual book. The eye candy from the least successful Star Trek tv show can not compensate for the bad religous undertunes in this movie.
Star Wars: Episode One - The Phantom Menace

Star Wars: Episode Two - Attack of the Clones

Star Wars: Episode Three - Revenge of the Sith

Star Wars: Episode Four - A New Hope

Star Wars: Episode Five - The Empire Strikes Back

Star Wars: Episode Six - Return of the Jedi

Steamboy

Superman Returns

The Thirteenth Warrior

Titan AE

Traffic

True Romance

The Truth About Charlie

Touch of Evil

A touch of a nearly perfect movie. I wouldn’t cast Charleton Heston as a Mexican, but man is this a great movie.
Underworld

The Usual Suspects

Vampirella

Vanilla Sky

Venus Beauty Institute

V for Vendetta

Vulgar

Wall-E

A very sweet movie, with some great Mac references. For a kids movie it was one of the most moving movies I have seen in a while, actually its a toss up between this and Into the Wild.
Wanted

War Games The Dead Code
Sequals, the general rule of thumb is that they are a bad idea and this movie isn’t the exception to the rule.
Watership Down

Wildthings

Wildthings II
The X-Files I Want to Believe

Much better than it was given credit for. It contains some incredibly disturbing imagry that is unfortanantly as far as I know real.
X-Men

X2: X-Men United

Y Tu Mama Tambian
